A few weeks ago, I took a Friday off to have a long weekend in Melbourne. It was an awesome weekend of eating and catching up with old friends. Food photography was actually one of the genres I got into when I first picked up a DSLR many many years ago. Melbourne is well known for it’s food and drink culture. So I was not short on opportunities to take photographs of food! In this blog post, I’m sharing some of my favourite photos from my weekend in Melbourne. All my photos were taking with the nimble Fujifilm X-T10 and the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens.
Lune Croissanterie came highly recommended by a foodie friend of mine. When we landed on Friday morning after a red-eye flight. We dropped off our bags at the hotel and headed straight to Fitzroy. We were the first in line to savour their freshly made croissants that morning. It was definitely the most expensive and delicious croissants I’ve ever had! We sat there enjoying our croissants while watching them work in their glass room. It was a real art to see the pastry chefs at work, in such synchrony.
Another place we checked out in Fitzroy (After Lune) was called Stagger Lee’s. Breakfast was quiet and delicious. After a red-eye flight, the fresh hit of caffeine was just the wake-up call I needed for me to power through my day. The salmon, asparagus and potato hash was pretty tasty, though on the saltier end. The interior decor is the typical rustic Melbourne cafe.
When I caught up with an old friend of my on Sunday, we checked out another place in Fitzroy called Sir Charles. Salmon seems to be popular on menus in Melbourne. I much preferred this brunch meal. It was a simple yet delicate dish full of colour and flavour.
Other than eating, drinking and attending a wedding. I did try and squeeze in some city life photography of Melbourne city while I was there. Unfortunately photography did a back seat on this trip.
Another must-eat recommendations by numerous friends is a Japanese fusion restaurant called Supernormal. The lobster rolls were top on the recommendations list and it didn’t disappoint! The remaining food and drink items on the menu was also worth the wait and money.
This is just a brief interlude from my Iceland adventures. Thanks for stopping by today.
