Harvest Espresso is located along Albany Highway in Victoria Park. It is one of my favourite default places to go to lunch or brunch if I’m stuck for ideas. As the menu is seasonal, there is always something different for me to try. There are also classic breakfast dishes that are always on the menu. I’ve been here at least half a dozen times over the years. I have always enjoyed the food, the coffee and the friendly service.
The new City of Perth library
The newly opened state-of-the-art City of Perth Library is a beautiful piece of architecture. It’s contemporary in design. There is plenty of space for people both inside and outside of the building. From rooftop open area reading areas to study rooms for students. The addition of the cafe on the ground floor is a nice touch for those who want to sit back with a cup of coffee while browsing the papers or magazines on offer.
Cathedral Square, the historic heart of Perth
Cathedral Square is one of the newly revitalised areas in Perth City. St George Cathedral, the new City of Perth Library, and State Buildings are amongst the more well known buildings. I enjoyed walking around the area and taking photos of these buildings. Architectural and urbanscape photography is still a favourite of mine. Perth really has come a long way in the last few years.
Solo lunching at Babylon Cafe in Leederville
Babylon Cafe is tucked away behind a rug store in Leederville. You would probably miss it if you weren’t look for it. It has a beautiful and whimsical courtyard to hang out in. The inside of the cafe is small and homely, with it’s retro and hipster styling.
Japanese omakase at Ichirin in Leeming
I’ve only been to a small handful of places for omakase. If you didn’t know omakase translate to Japanese degustation. Ichirin is perhaps the new kid on the block. If I’m not mistaken, it took over the shop that Marumo used to occupy in the southern suburb of Leeming.
