If you haven’t heard of a little neighborhood cafe in Perth called Cafe Leadman you should check it out! I’m not generally one to visit a cafe multiple times in a short space (I love trying new places!) yet I did visit Cafe Leadman twice in a month. The food is a little bit Asian inspired (there’s a fancy giant bowl of gourmet Mi Goreng) and very tasty. My favourite is actually the prawn brioche roll, which I ordered on both occasions.
On top of the good food and coffee, I absolutely love the dark, moody and modern design of the cafe. The trend in cafe designs that I have seen anyway is typically white, bright and airy, with wooden accents. I liked how this one had the red/dark wood look combined with the black interior and furniture.
Moving along to some actual photography chat. I normally shoot raw+JPEG and I’ve been trying to experiment with some in-camera JPEG settings as previously discussed. I was inspired to write about this topic while I was looking through the photos I took at the cafe. I started comparing my edited raw to the straight out of camera (SOOC) image, and in some case I couldn’t quite decide which one I liked better!
There is something about how Fujifilm cameras render the colour and quality SOOC that I really like. The raw files are powerful of course. I could pull out a lot of details from the raw images to completely change the mood and style of the image if I wanted to.
I think I’m liking the SOOC images a little bit more for this particular series. There’s just something about the tone and colour rendering that I quite like. Here are the series of edited vs. SOOC images, let me know which you prefer and why down in the comments. I’m interested in what people think.
Thanks for stopping by today

Post Processing is a very subjective science, but I think I prefer the warmer tones of your edited files (vs. SOOC). But again, it’s very personal.

Yeh! it’de definitely subjective and personal. I guess that’s what makes it creative too. When the edited and SOOC are next to each other the SOOC images looks more washout than perhaps it would feel without the edited version. Interesting isn’t it!

Echoing what Benoit wrote. I prefer your edited versions.
