After spending the afternoon on foot, we popped into the Belgium Beer Cafe in The Rocks for a break and snack. Then it was onto the evening walking tour of The Rocks. This walking tour delved deeper into the history of The Rocks, the site of Australia’s first European settlement. We walked through dark laneways. Listened to stories of the various pubs and historical buildings in the area. Our guide Ross, who is also the owner founder of IM FREE walking tours, was entertaining and gave the stories a sense of fun and intrigue. Stories included Australia’s largest bank robbery, the first hanging and the plague in Sydney.
Walking Around Sydney CBD
Continuing on my Sydney photo series. After my morning exploration of Sydney’s Hyde Park and St Mary’s Cathedral, I continued my walk towards the Sydney’s CBD. As it was a Sunday in the city, the city was packed with shoppers, buskers and tourists. I dropped by Gumption for a coffee in The Strand arcade. If I had more time, the streets of Sydney would be the perfect place to be doing some street photography.
Sydney’s Hyde Park and St Mary’s Cathedral
Sydney is Australia’s most famous and iconic city. Back in September last year, I made my first trip to Sydney. I spent a week exploring some of Sydney most popular tourist attractions, eating delicious food and taking a lot of photos. My good friend Mike, a Sydney local, kindly took out some time out of his busy week to play tourist guide. He took us down to Canberra for a day and then to the Blue Mountains on another day. This will the first post of many for my Sydney photo series.
Walking Noble Falls, Gidgegannup
On the same day we visited Mundaring Weir, we also headed north east of Perth to Noble Falls. Noble Falls walking trail is located in Gidgegannup in the Perth Hills area. The trail takes you along Wooroloo Brook and it’s open all year round. In spring you can see wildflowers along the trail and it’s also home to birdlife. Don’t expect great things of the fall though. It’s a very small waterfall that is best seen during the winter time. The full circuit only takes around 45 minutes and it’s fairly flat and easy. If you didn’t bring food to BBQ or a picnic spread, Noble Falls Tavern is just across the road.
Exploring Mundaring Weir
I’ve been enjoying digging into my photo catalogue as it allows me to reflect on my photography. What I once thought was a “good” photo, sometimes isn’t so good anymore in hindsight. Sometimes something might stand out to, tempting me to re-master and re-edit that photo. For the most part, it reminds me that photography is an ever developing skill. I don’t think I’ve quite figured out my “style” yet. But over time I feel I gravitate towards shooting certain subjects or creating a certain mood.
