Whisk Creamery in Subiaco has been around the Perth dessert scene for almost two years. I only got a chance to check it out a few months ago when I was in Subi for dinner.
New kid on the block, Blacksmith in Mt Lawley
Blacksmith is the new kid on the Mt Lawley food scene. It’s located along Beaufort Street in Mt Lawley. The cafe is large, with plenty of seats. They have bucked the minimalistic trend and gone with rustic look. Having a kids playpen at the back is a nice touch, making it a family friendly place for parents.
Winter menu at Harvest Espresso in Victoria Park
Harvest Espresso is located along Albany Highway in Victoria Park. It is one of my favourite default places to go to lunch or brunch if I’m stuck for ideas. As the menu is seasonal, there is always something different for me to try. There are also classic breakfast dishes that are always on the menu. I’ve been here at least half a dozen times over the years. I have always enjoyed the food, the coffee and the friendly service.
Solo lunching at Babylon Cafe in Leederville
Babylon Cafe is tucked away behind a rug store in Leederville. You would probably miss it if you weren’t look for it. It has a beautiful and whimsical courtyard to hang out in. The inside of the cafe is small and homely, with it’s retro and hipster styling.
Japanese omakase at Ichirin in Leeming
I’ve only been to a small handful of places for omakase. If you didn’t know omakase translate to Japanese degustation. Ichirin is perhaps the new kid on the block. If I’m not mistaken, it took over the shop that Marumo used to occupy in the southern suburb of Leeming.
