Fringe World 2018, Part II
My last shoot for Fringe World was at The Ramp at Icecream Factory in Northbridge. Raul By The Pool was a pretty entertaining solo act.
Shooting in the small dark room was photographically challenging. The constant movement also really tested my autofocus on the Fujifilm XT-10 with the 35mm f1.4. however thanks to the f1.4 I managed to get pretty decent shots within the room. I have found shooting with the 35mm f1.4 so fun and inconspicuous. Great for walking around an event.
Fringe World 2018, Part I
Fringe World 2018 in Perth came and went very quickly. Between work and life I haven’t had a chance to post any photos from the festival. I put my hand up to volunteer as a photographer and to my surprise was chosen to shoot. It was a good experience walking into an unknown environment and often terrible lighting, and basically being an event photographer. It had it’s daunting moments but I felt I learned a lot from the experience. I ended up with some shots I’m pretty pleased with, which I’ll be sharing over the next few blog posts. Some of the shows I shot at were fairly unusual to say the least, so again that posed its own challenges in terms of how to show the audience, the performers and the general environment. All in all, a great experience and taste of event photography.
Fringe World Weekend Buskers
Fringe World Buskers Weekend was a big success. It was the first time they had organised a weekend full of street performers. From comedians and magicians, to musicians and circus stunts. It was another fun and challenging Fringe shoot. The brief of the event shoot was to photograph happy weekenders enjoying the shows. I really enjoyed capturing the emotions of the crowds as well as the performers themselves. We were treated to some really cool shows all for free or for a tip.
Perth Fuji X Aus Photowalk
Back in February, a small group of us from the Fuji X Aus Facebook group met up at Elizabeth Quay for a photowalk. We also had the guys from DigiDirect bring some gear for us to test out, which was good fun. The theme for the day was “make big things look small” which is the current competition in the group. We were split into pairs to roam the city. Coincidentally it was also the Fringe Buskers Weekend in Perth so there were plenty of people and activity around that afternoon. I’ve shared three of my favourite shots of the day in this post. As it was a bit of a competition and prizes were up for grabs courtesy of Fujifilm Australia, it was fun to really challenge myself with the theme. I was pleasantly surprised when I ended up with the shot of the day and walked away with some Fujifilm goodies!
Thanks for stopping by today.
