Continuing on with my roadtrip around Iceland. After an awesome night of northern lights, we got up for a day of exploring the sights around Lake Myvatn. There are lots of natural wonders around Lake Myvatn and lots of walking trails. The shot above and below are panoramic shots of Viti Crater. The walk to the top where you get a view of the crater lake is fairly short and steep. You get a pretty good view of your surrounding from the top landing though. In the distance you can see the Krafla Power Plant which is a geothermal powerplant.
Aurora Borealis by Mývatn Lake, Iceland, Take Two
When I was in Iceland last year and got a glimpse of the spectacular Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), I couldn’t help but do a quick edit of one of my shots on my phone and posted it straight to my blog. It was definitely a bucketlist item that I was excited to share with family and friends. Now that I’ve culled, edited and curated all my photos from my Iceland trip. I wanted to share a few of my favourite Aurora Borealis photos. These are long exposure photos taken on a tripod on a mostly cloudless night, one of the few nights where the sky was clear enough and we were far north enough to watch the lights dancing in the sky.

Golden hour exploring Húsavík, Iceland
After a big day of three waterfalls and enjoying autumn colours at Asbyrgi Canyon, we drove onwards to the next town. Husavik is the famous whale-watching capital of Iceland. Since it was quite late in the afternoon, we didn’t manage to do any whale-watching. Instead we walked around the quiet little town and enjoying the golden hour sunlight. These are some of my favourite photos from our walk around town. The golden hour light was spectacular.
