After the walking Hooker Valley track, we hit the road south wards towards Lake Wanaka. Along the way we had two major stops to make, a salmon farm and Lindis Pass.

We left our bed and breakfast in Lake Tekapo after a hearty breakfast. It took us around 2 hours to get to the start of the Hooker Valley Track, with a few stops along the way to take some photos. We just couldn’t get enough of the South island landscape.

We departed Christchurch in the morning and drove over 200km to Lake Tekapo, where we would spend the day and night. Lake Tekapo in the South Island of New Zealand is probably my favourite little small town.

Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand. It has unfortunately experienced a number of earthquakes in recent times that has caused serve damage to the city. When we were in New Zealand 2016, the damage from the early 2010s earthquakes were still visible.

After spending the morning packing and having one final homecooked breakfast with our lovely AirBnB host, we packed up the car and headed to Rotorua’s Redwood Forest. It was actually a bit of a spur of a moment decision to check out the Redwood Forest that morning as we had some time to spare before our midday flight to Christ Church.
