Easter Long Weekend in Denmark, Western Australia, Part I

Greens Pool, Denmark

The Easter long weekend feels like a months and months ago, yet it was only a few weeks ago. For the first time, I actually did what many West Aussies typically do on a long weekend, head down south. My four-day trip down to Denmark, WA was the quintessential girls trip. We stayed at a homely bed and breakfast close to Denmark town. Picnic-ed, wined and dined. Beached. Hiked. Hung out.

We started our 5 hour drive from Perth to Denmark on Friday morning. Albany Highway wasn’t overly busy thankfully. We made a half-way stop at Creepy Hollow to stretch our legs before jumping back into the car to make the rest of our way down to Denmark.

Our first stop in Denmark was checking into our accommodation. The Grange Bed and Breakfast is located just outside of Denmark town, run by a lovely couple. More on that later. After checking in, we headed straight to Greens Pool given that it was such a beautiful afternoon. Compared to the last time I was down in Denmark, Greens Pool was super busy. We actually ended up parking on the side of the road leading up to the Greens Pool carpark. We found a spot on the pristine beach to set up our beach towels for a beach picnic, followed by a dip in the (freezing) water. I opted to walk along the beach to take more photos.  The Fujifilm X-T10 and 27mm f2.8 were the perfect combination. Greens Pool is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in the South West region of Western Australia.

Elephant Rocks, which is just next to Greens Pool, is another must-see. The last time I was in Denmark the tide was high. That meant we couldn’t walk through to the cove. This time however the tide was low and we made our way through the narrow walk way through to the cove. As the sun set over the coast and the temperatures dropped, we decided to head back to our accommodation

The Grange Bed and Breakfast is a quaint 4 bed room house. We shared the space with another young couple and a family of 3 from Singapore. Breakfast each morning was lovely as we shared a fresh meal and shared stories from the previous day. The unlimited freshly baked cookies each day were a hit with us. So additive. We spent a night in the guest living area playing board games while the fireplace kept us warm. We also ended each night was a delicious cup of complimentary port. We couldn’t fault our lovely accommodation and hosts!
