Elizabeth Quay is one of Perth’s newest and still under-way development projects. A man-made inlet was created so that they could build a public transport ferry terminal as well as a jetty for private boats. The latest addition to the Quay is the swanky new Ritz-Carlton Hotel and residential apartments.
This series of photos of Elizabeth Quay was taken on two separate occasions. The first three images in this series below were taken from level 10 of the Westralia Square building. The views from that floor were just stunning. A great location for the marriage registry to be located! It was also a beautiful winter morning as well. As it was quite sunny, I struggled to avoid the reflections on the glass windows fully. As I was shooting from within the building, there wasn’t a lot of composition options. None the less, there shots turned out alright I think.
The rest of the images were talking in the late afternoon, also back in late August when the sun was setting a bit after 6pm in the evening. I managed to squeeze in 45 minutes of photography around Elizabeth Quay before our monthly Fuji X Aus Perth social meet up. I went with little expectation, mainly a scouting trip for the best compositions. But I ended up quite liking an number of shots (the cover image is my favourite and it seemed to be a crowd favourite in the Fuji X Aus Facebook community too). I think the purple and pink glow in the sky was a pleasant surprise. I was disappointed that I didn’t have a tripod with me to do some long exposure photography! That will hopefully be a future photo meet up location for exactly that. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around Elizabeth Quay for some post-meet up shenanigans too. All the shots were taken using my Fujifilm X-T10 and the 35mm f1.4
Thanks for stopping by today.
