Araluen Botanic Park is located in Perth Hills, just 35km from Perth city. The 59 hectares of garden and park is home to many Australia and international plants and flowers. It’s a well maintained and curated park. It gave me a serene and peaceful feeling as I explored the park.
Araluen has always been somewhere I’ve always been keen to visit but never have. Back in January this year, a photographer and friend from Sydney decided to spend a weekend in Perth. Araluen was one of the first places that popped into my mind when planning his visit. After a some brunch and coffee at one of my favourite cafes, Harvest Espresso, we made the 40 minute drive to Araluen to spend the rest of the afternoon. After paying our $6 per person admission fee and our cameras at hand, we proceeded to explore the park.
I had such a great time photographing the beautiful flowers and plants and my fellow photographer friends as they explored the park. I’m not naturally a portrait shooter but I’m really starting to enjoy photographing people. I especially enjoy photographing candid moments as well as people in their natural environment. There’s also something abut black and white people photos that is magical. Day trips like this is yet another reminder of the beauty around us and how we don’t have to travel far from home to be in another world.
