After spending a day exploring Cambridge, we drove 2 hours southwest towards Oxford. The traffic on the motor way between the two cities was quite bad that evening. We didn’t make it into Oxford until quite late at night. We headed straight to a local English pub for some pub grub for dinner and called it a night.
As we had an evening flight to catch back to Australia, we got up early and tried to make the most of our day in Oxford. Oxford is another university city. The University of Oxford is the second older university in the world and one of the world’s most famous. We had breakfast at Vaults and Garden Cafe, just next to the iconic Radcliffe Camera building. After breakfast we explored the city on foot. It’s a much larger city than Cambridge. Other than the University of Oxford and it’s various colleges, the city also has museums, galleries and markets to explore. Like Cambridge, Oxford has a rich history and many iconic buildings. It was such fun to photograph. For an old city, there was plenty of colour in the city too. It wasn’t just old buildings and cathedrals.
I’ve saved the most famous building in Oxford, Christ Church for the next post. Thanks for stopping by today.
