I seem to be hearing about a new cafe every week in Perth. I’m not one to complain that the Perth food scene is getting more and more interesting though. Frisch and Barc is one of the newer cafes that has popped up south of the river in Como.
My friend and I decided to check it out on a weekend a few weeks ago when it had first opened. As it was a Sunday and only it’s second day of opening, it was pretty busy. Looking at the menu, I would say it’s Asian fusion brunch food. The service and staff were friendly, but given it was only their second day the staff were a little bit disorganised. The flavours were good but again probably required some fine tuning.
I found my Black Angus corned beef potato hash delicious but a little bit on the salty side. It must have been the most popular dish given they ran out of corned beef by 11am. The chef asked if we wanted to replace it with pork instead. The kale, fried egg and sriracha soy worked well with the dish.
I enjoy a good cup of coffee and wasn’t disappointed with my flat white.
As my friend is way more of a foodie than me, she was eager to try one of the sweet dishes as well as a savoury dish. She settled on the Orange zest pannacotta. It was beautifully presented. Poached pear, freeze dried mandarin, with mix fruit crumble. I’m not one for a sweet breakfast/brunch dish but I enjoyed it as the dessert to my savoury dish.
Frisch and Barc is a great addition to the Como/South Perth cafe scene. It’s also a beautiful cafe. The kind of place where you would go and have a coffee, relax and read a book. Given it’s proximity to me, I’m sure I will be back soon.
Thanks for stopping by today.
