A couple of weekends ago we re-started our Fuji X Aus Perth meetup events after a long hiatus due to you-know-what. It was awesome to get out and about again, walking the streets again with fellow photographers. We decided to kick off our first photo walk at Fremantle with some street photography. Four of us fuji shooters met up at a local coffee shop for coffee and chats in the West End.
We meandered our way through the West End area followed by Fremantle Markets and then the new Kings Square/FOMO precinct. We picked up a fellow photographer along away at FOMO too! As we approached lunch time, we decided to call it a day and headed to Gage Roads Brewery for some lunch and more chats.
I decided to challenge myself again by just “seeing” and shooting in JPEG. I also wanted try a new Film Simulation Recipe for the morning. These images are all straight out of camera photos based on Fuji X Weekly’s Kodak Portra 400 recipe.

Photos were taken on my Fujifilm X-T4 and the Fujinon 35mm f1.4 lens. My classic and favourite go-to combo for street shooting. I was walking around with the small and nimble 6L ROAM Sling bag from Wandrd which packed a punch when it comes to carrying gear in a compact manner.
Moore & Moore Cafe is always a cool place to visit. Today’s exhibition was a beautiful international watercolour exhibition. Amazing talent on show!
Bread In Common. One of Fremantle’s local institutions! I have been a frequent patron. Great food and drinks. And the bread!
The new City of Fremantle Civic Centre is one of the architectural additions to the city. The library was also very cool
FOMO is one of the new buildings in/near the Kings Square precinct. It’s the new entertainment building with bars, restaurants, bowling, arcade games and more.
Fremantle Market is another local Fremantle institution that has been around for a very long time. It was a crowded Sunday morning at the market. It was great to see all the vendors in full swing and people out and about browsing and eating at the markets. I love photographing the colours of all the fresh food vendors.
Fremantle Port Authority is a 1960s post-war building. I love the mid-century vibe of the building. At least from the outside they have kept the facade well. The Classic Chrome film simulation base is well suited for an image like this.
All in all it was a great morning getting our steps up, talking about photography and getting to know both old and new faces. I’m looking forward to getting back into some regularity of photo-related meetup events again in Perth. If you’re a Fujifilm shooter in the Perth, WA area, join our next meetup by joining the Fuji X Aus group for updates on our next meetup. We’d love to see you there!
