Back on the 1st of March, before Australia went into lock-down due to COVID-19, Perth hosted a massive AC/DC tribute concert as part of Perth Festival 2020. The concert shut down Canning Highway from Applecross through to Fremantle. Festival goers lined one side of Canning Highway, while the 8 trucks carrying 8 bands rolled along the other side of Canning Highway. The trucks stopped at designed spots to play a song or two before rolling on to the next spot.
The event drew massive crowds of people. I was familiar with a few of the songs but certainly not all of them. Even if you didn’t know the songs, you were still able to be engrossed into the music and atmosphere. They had such a variety of bands from across the world who participated. I was surprised to see a Japanese band and a Finnish band rolling along.
It’s been over a month since restrictions such as social distancing and closures of non-essentially businesses were gradually implemented by state and federal governments. Comparing the crowds that were out and about for Highway to Hell is a farcry to what it’s like now on the streets. While we’re all not too sure how long all these restrictions will be in place, it’s comforting to see that case numbers and deaths are relatively low compared to other countries in the world.
I hope everyone has had a nice and quiet Easter long weekend, and are finding some time to keep up with some (indoor) photography. Take care and thanks for stopping by today.
