Since coming back from New Zealand, I’ve been inspired to hike and explore the outdoors more. Lesmurdie Falls located in the Perth Hills area is only 30 minutes away from Perth. It is probably one of the most accessible, well known short hikes in Perth. Instead of doing our usual outdoor boxing/circuit session on the weekend, my friends and I decided to do a hike instead. It was quite a chilly winter day but we were soon warmed up once we started our hike. The trail was pretty quiet because of the cool weather and possible rain that day. So we pretty much had the trail to ourselves, only seeing a handful of other hikers.
We started our hike at Falls Road carpark and decided to hike our way down to the bottom of the falls. Because of the recent heavy rainfall, the waterfall was at full speed which was nice to see. As it was cloudy and the sky was threatening to rain all morning (it drizzled a few times), it meant it was a great day for taking photos.
While it’s a pretty easy hike, there wasn’t much signage and there was a lot of uphill climbs.
On our way back up towards the carpark, we got lost along the way. Eventually we found our way to the main road, which was a short distance to the carpark.
Our morning workout, we made our way to Kalamunda town for lunch. A colleague of mine recommended Jack & Jill for lunch. It was a lovely modern cafe nestled in what looks like a country town. Despite the busyness of the cafe, we managed to score a table. The food on the menu sounded great and it was hard to pick a dish to try. I ended up with the potato hash, kransky, cameralised onion and eggs. It was then topped with sauerkraut. I also ordered my usual white flat.
