Hotel Ella in Austin, Texas was a last minute find when our Airbnb hotel cancelled our 1-night stay for our trip to Austin to watch the Austin F1 Grand Prix in October 2023.
I’m glad we found this little 48 bedroom boutique hotel. It’s a circa 1898 landmark mansion, in the Greek Revival style of architecture.
Lobby
The hotel maintained it’s classic exterior facade, preserved and restored a lot of the interior features and furnished the hotel with classic and modern furniture pieces to complement the grand-mansion architecture.
Check in was 24/7. Despite arriving close to midnight, the front desk staff were friendly and checked us in efficiently.
Room
The rooms were modern and well furnished with simple, functional and aesthetic pieces items.
The bed was comfortable and the hanging robes ready to go was a nice touch. The bathroom came with the usual amenities and fluffy towels.
If we had more time, I would have loved to check out the pool area and the rest of the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant
We were heading back to COTA to watch the Austin Grand Prix race day race, so we were up relatively early for breakfast.
Since we were tight on time, we had our breakfast the hotel’s restaurant, Goodall’s. Named after the original founder of the hotel, Goodall Wooten.
The food was delicious. The cappuccino was just the coffee hit I needed to wake me up.
I loved the decor of the restaurant dining room. The mismatched photographs and art pieces on the wall added a sense of whimsy to the vibe.
Photographer’s Notes:
Images were taken with the Fujifilm X-T4 and the Fujinon 18-55mm f2.8-4 lens. The most versatile travel photography lens and it’s always my go-to when I’m travelling to a new city or country.
Wrap up
Hotel Ella was a last minute find, we’re glad we did! It’s also somewhere I wouldn’t mind staying at again if we visit Austin in the future.
