I spent a bit of time over the Easter long weekend going through some of the my end of 2019, early 2020 photos of my cafe and restaurant adventures. For some reason I enjoy taking these food and drink snaps but seldom find a reason to share them. I thought why not put together a series of food and drink images into a blog post. These are all local joints in Perth. Hopefully when we are all released from our social isolation, we can all head out and support some of our local businesses, especially if they’re closed at this time.
American burgers and fries from 3230 Smoke and Grill in Como. Smashed beef patty or crunchy fried chicken on a soft brioche bun.
Smoky American style BBQ at Sidedoor BBQ in Mt Lawley. I’ve been there for dinner a few times and it’s always smoky and tasty. When we found out they served breakfast, we were keen to check it out. Smoked brisket, beans and poached eggs. Melty and delicious. Breakfast brisket wrap was also pretty tasty. For breakfast you even get unlimited coffee re-fills! That it meant I could have a hot cup of flat white before and after my food.
Trouble Maker Burgers in Yagan Square. Another American style beef burgers, hotdog and chip joint. They even have a milkbar where you can make customise your soft serve with mix-ins like oreos, M&Ms and cereals. They also offer a few variety of milkshakes to go with your calorie-full meal 🙂
On the fancier but still down to earth side of restaurants, we enjoyed our meal at Le Rebelle in Mt Lawley. It’s nestled amongst many other foodaries along Beaufort Street. The restaurant is very much inspired by the old romanticism of Parisian and New York bistros. It’s a little bit dark and moody, yet still cosy and warm. The interior of the restaurant in the evening certainly has a old world look and feel. They have a pretty extensive wine list and a pretty tasty menu on offer. We had the blue manna crab on brioche toast (delicious!), French salad, duck two ways (special for the night) and double spiced crispy shrimp and slaw. Given it was a bit of a treat-night, we each had a glass of wine to go with a slow meal.
Cold brew coffee and eggs on fire at Blacksmith in Mt Lawley. The eggs on fire was an interesting mix of chorizo, harissa, dukkha, crumbled hash, some caramelise oniun and a sunny side eggs on a slide of sourdough. It was a hearty meal to have for lunch in summer. This was also the FXA Perth end of year lunch. Eventhough it was a small turn out, the conversation was still great!
Coffees at Mews Espresso and Steamlab Coffee. Cocktails at Los Bravos and cocktails at Santini Bar at QT Hotel.
I hope you found some of these food and drink photography mouth watering like I did! Thanks for stopping by today.
