I’ve only been to a small handful of places for omakase. If you didn’t know omakase translate to Japanese degustation. Ichirin is perhaps the new kid on the block. If I’m not mistaken, it took over the shop that Marumo used to occupy in the southern suburb of Leeming.
It’s a tiny shop that could probably only fit up to 20 people. Going for omakase was actually the second time I’ve dined at Ichirin. The first time we picked a few dishes to share from the menu. When we discovered Ichirin also had an omakase menu, we decided to book a table in July for a belated birthday dinner. The chef in fact remembered the last time we were there and that we were asking whether to order one or two bowls of udon!
The presentation was simple, homely but still beautiful. The July omakase menu comprised of six dishes for $60 per person. It looks like the menu changes on a monthly basis.
If you haven’t tried Japanese omakase before, I would certainly recommend it. Ichirin is a small and relaxed restaurant, an easy spot to go to for food and catch ups.
Thanks for stopping by today.
