This is the final part of the four part series on Open House Perth (Part One, Part Two and Part Three). HASSELL is one of Australia’s leading architectural firms and its been involved in projects like Fiona Stanley Hospital, Brookflied Place and 140 William Street.
After that, we headed to SODA Apartments in located in inner city Perth. It’s a 13 unit apartment building and one of which was open to the public. The dwelling is pretty small so it was interesting to see how the architect designed it such that it had plenty of liveable space. I loved that it had a lot of natural light and greenery. We also popped by a cool little book shop called Robert Muir Old and Rare Books which also does book restorations (didn’t know it existed there).
One of our last Open House stops was The Boulevarde House in Mt Hawthorn. This residence would certainly be up there in being one of my favourites from the weekend, especially the open living/kitchen area that opens up to the backyard. For a inner city suburban house it had a lot of natural space and light.
That’s it for the four part series. I hope you got a glimpse into what Open House Perth has to offer. If you didn’t get a chance to check it out this year, be so to do it next year. I think spending the weekend exploring various parts of Perth, many of which aren’t normally accessible to the public, has given me a greater appreciation of architecture and design. It has also made me feel grateful to be able to call Perth home. Thanks for stopping by today.
