As many of us spend so much of our time at home these days due to COVID-19, cooking and baking has taken off! I’ve been enjoying researching recipes and watching YouTube videos of chefs showing people how to many simple meals at home. I’m spending much of my non-work time either grocery shopping or at learning to cook a new dish or two on the weekend and also some photo editing my backlog of photos. To try to squeeze in some actual physical activity since gyms have been closed, I’ve tried to walk to do my grocery shopping or do some in-home yoga and exercises. I’m not a particularly good cook but I have enjoyed trying a range of more time consuming dishes like making dumplings and lasagne. On my walks, I have also tried to support local cafes by buying takeaway coffee and food.

Australia went further and further into lock-down mode throughout the month of March 2020. I was inspired by other photographers I followed who shared their ideas what they were going to do during this lockdown period to keep up with their photography, business and creativity. The COVID-19 pandemic is definitely one for the history books. Like many photographers out there, I thought doing a mini documentary project to capture daily life during this historic period of time would be interesting and insightful. Something I could look back upon and tell the story of what it felt like living during a pandemic through my own eyes.
[Read more…]My Fuji X Passion magazine feature
I couple of months ago the lovely editors at Fuji X Passion magazine got in contact with me to see if I was interested in writing an article of my photographic journey for Fuji X Passion Magazine. I was humbled and excited to have the opportunity to do so. I really enjoyed the process of writing and subsequently digging into my archives to find photos that I wanted to feature in the article that illustrated my journey and style of photography. I felt it was a reflective exercise, thinking about my 10 year passion and journey in photography. From when I first picked up a camera and showed interest in photography. To when I am today.
If you haven’t heard of Fuji X Passion, do check them out, they have some fantastic articles written by passionate Fujifilm photographers from around the world. You can find my article titled my decade long journey in photography in the April edition of the magazine.
Thanks for stopping by today

Into the Archives, Food & Drink Photography
I spent a bit of time over the Easter long weekend going through some of the my end of 2019, early 2020 photos of my cafe and restaurant adventures. For some reason I enjoy taking these food and drink snaps but seldom find a reason to share them. I thought why not put together a series of food and drink images into a blog post. These are all local joints in Perth. Hopefully when we are all released from our social isolation, we can all head out and support some of our local businesses, especially if they’re closed at this time.

Back on the 1st of March, before Australia went into lock-down due to COVID-19, Perth hosted a massive AC/DC tribute concert as part of Perth Festival 2020. The concert shut down Canning Highway from Applecross through to Fremantle. Festival goers lined one side of Canning Highway, while the 8 trucks carrying 8 bands rolled along the other side of Canning Highway. The trucks stopped at designed spots to play a song or two before rolling on to the next spot.
