These are some one my “on the road” photos around Iceland after leaving Akureyrarkirja. The Icelandic landscape is truly unique. The golden/green rolling mountains, long open roads and ever changing skyscape makes for some pretty awesome on the road shots. I’m glad we decided to go for a Toyota Landcruiser to take us around the island. It served us well through very rocky roads and questionable weather conditions!
The Church of Akureyri, Iceland
Half way through our 14 day road trip around Iceland, we made our way to Akureyri, the second largest urban area in the north of Iceland. Akureyri is a harbour-side city and is an important port and fishing centre in Iceland. The Church of Akureyri or Akureyrarkirkja is one of the famous icons in the city. The prominent Lutheran church is located at the centre of the city, towering above the city on a hill. Unfortunately we didn’t get to go into the church to check out the interior. It was the perfect sunny autumn morning to walk around the city before heading to our next stop.
HDR of Aldeyjarfoss Waterfall, Iceland
As I mentioned on the last blog post, we pretty much had Aldeyjarfoss all to ourselves. Two of us photographers stuck to photographing from the top of the falls while the other two daredevils climbed down to the bottom of the falls. I experimented with taking a few different exposures and merging them in Aurora HDR. The colours of the photos came out pretty well. All the photos posted in this post were processed in Aurora HDR, I had a lot of fun experimenting with it.
