I can’t believe almost 5 months has gone by in 2023!
It’s been a whirlwind of a year on a personal and professional front, which meant I haven’t had a lot of time to devote to personal photography and this blog. As months go by, I’ve contemplated skipping my yearly review.
But I have shared an annual review on this blog for the last 6 years (since the inception of this blog back in 2016) and I’m keen to continue the tradition even if it’s 5 months late!

The direct flights from Melbourne to Perth were pretty expensive back in June 2022. We played around a with different flight times and stop-over combinations to either find a flight on points or a flight at a cheaper price.
Alas, we managed to find 2 Qantas Classic Rewards points seat to fly back to Perth from Melbourne via a brief transit Sydney. Given the price of tickets, we thought it was a good use of 20,300 Qantas frequent flyer points to fly economy class back to Perth (economy ticket prices at the time were pretty close to $800+).

Henry M in Manning open back in December 2021. It’s one of the new kids on the block that is very popular with the locals. Been meaning to try it out since it’s relatively close to where we live. We had the opportunity to visit a few weekends ago. Despite the rainy and storming weather that weekend, the place was packed with brunch-goers.

Our Fuji X Aus meetup event for July was a casual coffee and Photo Market meetup. We met up at Secret Garden Cafe in South Perth for a morning coffee. It was lovely meet some new faces and chat about photography and gear. It was a chilly winter morning in Perth that Sunday, but thankfully the weather was sunny and bright.

On my way back to Perth from Melbourne, we checked out the Qantas Domestic Business Lounge in Melbourne Airport. I’ve been here a handful of times and it has a similar modern interior design to the Perth Qantas Domestic Business Lounge. Like the last lounge review, this is an experiential review of the lounge in Melbourne. The Melbourne lounge is dubbed one of Australia’s best domestic lounges. Did it stand up to that nickname? lets see!
