Araluen Botanic Park is located in Perth Hills, just 35km from Perth city. The 59 hectares of garden and park is home to many Australia and international plants and flowers. It’s a well maintained and curated park. It gave me a serene and peaceful feeling as I explored the park.
Getting lost at Bells Rapid
During one my of days off after coming back from New Zealand, I met up with an ex-colleague of mine who loves her hikes and coffee for just that. We started our day at a relatively new cafe in Innaloo called Cup & Co. According to the owner, they’ve only been open for around 6 months at the time. I love having weekdays off from work. It’s nice to drive a little further out to suburbs I don’t normally go to. The barista Simone is a fun kind of guy. He chatted to plenty of regulars who popped in to grab a take away coffee while we were there.
Weekday food adventure: Little Banksia & Little Matcha Girl
Decided to have a few days off after coming back from my two week New Zealand adventure to just relaxing in Perth and check out some of the local cafes without the busy weekend lunch crowds. It’s definitely a different vibe going to a cafe on a work day than it is on a weekend. I find the cafes are noisy and the staff are generally more stressed. On a weekday, the crowds are smaller and the shops are not as busy, which makes for friendlier staff who you can have a pleasant conversation with without holding anyone up.
Photo Essay: Weekend away in Denmark, Western Australia (Part II)
Our final day in Denmark started off rainy and stormy, but it didn’t stop us from making the most of the weekend before we all headed back to the hustle and bustle of city life. We started out the day with warm and tasty pies from the award winning Denmark Bakery in town. Despite the weather there were plenty of people (locals mostly) coming and going through the Bakery. They have a massive selection of pies, pastries and breads.
Photo Essay: Weekend away in Denmark, Western Australia (Part I)
I was inspired to write this post when I was flicking through some old photos on my computer. This is a throwback to my surprise birthday trip down south to the beautiful town of Denmark almost two years ago. I am reminded of the beauty that is in my back yard and that I don’t have to go too far to explore amazing places. Denmark is a coastal town approximately 5 hours drive away from Perth city with a population of only a few thousand residents. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a little invite message two years ago from an awesome bunch of old high school friends to “pack an overnight bag” for a surprise trip “somewhere”. To make the most of our two-nights three-days weekend getaway, I took the Friday afternoon off from work and was whisked away straight after work by my friends.
