I associate driving holidays with freedom and adventure. I’ve done a few short road trips with friends (e.g. driving down south to small towns like Mandurah and Denmark). However, I’ve always wanted to do a longer road trip with friends. After some coordinating, my friend and I managed to align our leave for a trip to New Zealand. In April this year we flew across the country and across the Tasman Sea to land in Auckland, New Zealand, where our road trip began.
The great Australian sport
Australia is a nation big on sports. The Australian Football League (AFL) or “footy” is Australia’s iconic sport. The sport that Aussie kids grow up with. I’ve always wanted to watch a game to have a live game experience.
Hiking Bold Park, City Beach
A few weeks ago, a couple of friends and I headed to City Beach on a sunny morning to hike Bold Park. Bold Park surround by what is known as the wealthy “western suburbs”. It’s a beautifully maintained park and one of the few bushlands remaining in the urban areas of Perth.
Good Food and Wine Show 2016
Every year the Good Food and Wine Show comes to Perth. This year was the first time I checked it out. I’ve always avoided it because the crowds are always insane. A friend of mine was keen to go again this year and I figured why not check it out for once. This year it was at the Perth Convention Centre. We purchased tickets for the Saturday session and headed in at 10am when the doors opened to beat the crowd.
Minimalism, living an intentional life
I recently went to watch Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things at a local theatre. Since I heard about The Minimalist producing a documentary earlier this year, I was looking forward to watching it when it was released in the theatres in Australia in July. Watching the documentary has inspired me to write this personal post on my thoughts on the trending concept of minimalism. For me personally the documentary didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know about minimalism. It is however a brilliant and engaging introduction for those who have never heard of or have a misunderstood perception of what minimalism is. It’s not about living with as few items as possible or getting rid of everything. It is so much more than that.
