I haven’t been back to my Alma Mater Curtin University in many years. When a bunch of Fujifilm shooters decided to catch up for a casual photowalk at Curtin University, I was eager to join to see how much it has changed in the last 10 years. It was a Saturday afternoon, so the campus was like a ghost town.
Much of the university has remained the same from when I was a student there. They have however expanded the campus significantly with plenty of new buildings. The new medical school and engineering schools are the most notable. I used to think Curtin University didn’t give the “feel” of a university when I was a student there. Looking at it now, I can see that it’s going for a more contemporary look compared to other university that have the traditional colonial architecture. I now have a better appreciation of the contemporary architectural theme that is on show.
I quite enjoyed walking around, checking our old and familiar buildings where I used to have to rock up for long lab days or early morning back to back lectures. It really brought back memories of my student days and allowed me to reflect on where I was 10 years ago to how my professional career has turned out.
It was also the first time in probably 6 months where I have taken out my camera to shoot for fun with other fellow photographers. Most of my shooting over the last 6 months has been incidental. I shot with my Fujifilm X-T10 and the 35mm f1.4 lens. I pulled out the 23mm f2 towards the end of the walk just to add a bit of variety.
I really enjoyed walking around with the sole purpose of photography and coming up with a photo series. I hope you enjoyed that one, let me know which image was your favourite! Thanks for stopping by today.
