We had our last Perth Fuji X Aus photowalk meetup for 2019 at the beginning of December. We decided to change it up a bit and do a social coffee catch up for half an hour before kicking off the photwalk. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces on a Sunday morning eager to explore the streets of Perth with their camera. We ended up with 12 people for the meet up which is a great turn out for the Perth FXA team. To add a bit of focus to the walk, the theme of the day was “Shadow and light”. Since my visit to Sydney, where I had such a great time shooting some street photography with the Fuji X Aus Sydney crew, it was a theme I was eager try in Perth.
For this photowalk, I used the Fujifilm X100F. It was the last weekend I had with the Fujifilm X100F. After spending almost 4 full weeks with the camera in a variety of situations I grew very accustomed to it. I was sad to part ways with it and return it to Fujifilm Australia by the end of it! The X100F is the perfect street photography camera. It’s light weight, fast to focus, so quiet and inconspicuous. I will probably do a more detailed write up about my experience using the X100F. Once I get to reviewing and post processing all the images I shot with it in November.
I mainly photographed without the lens converter as I love the 23mm look. But there were a couple of occasions where I whipped out the telephoto lens converter for some portrait-style images.
As I had acquired some merchandise from our Melbourne Fuji X Aus headquarters on my recent trip to Melbourne, we decided to hold a surprise competition for those who attended the photowalk. Participants picked one of their favourite images from the morning. The photo with the most votes from the Fuji X Aus admin team walked away with their very own Fujifilm branded coffee mug! It was so great to see so many submissions that fit the bill. However there could only be one winner and I was pleased to announce in the Fuji X Aus group that one of our Perth regulars Peter Walpole as the winner of the competition.
It’s been a fun and busy year at Fuji X Aus since becoming part of the rep team. I’m grateful for being part of a thriving, friendly and helpful community of photographers who happen to enjoy shooting with their Fujifilm cameras! One of the photographic highlights this year is getting to shoot with other Fuji X Aus photographers in Melbourne and Sydney. It was so fun to hang out with other photographers in a different city and put some faces to names I see online. I have learned so much from others in the group. I’m looking forward to getting involved in and helping to organising more events in Perth in 2020. Thanks for stopping by today.

Looked like a lot of fun. Reminds me of old Apple User Group meetups, back in the day!
You’ve convinced me to get an X100F or the next one.
Thanks for sharing the event!

What do you shoot with currently? The x100f is definitely a joy to us (once you get used to it, though it didn’t take long at all)
