A couple of months ago, we decided to do a 1-night staycation at QT Perth. It was a public holiday long weekend and rather than travelling interstate or join the bustle of driving down south to the wine region, we decided to make QT Perth our home away from home. Since my last visit to QT Perth as a volunteer photographer for Open House Perth, I’ve been interested in actually staying at QT Perth. I was attracted to it’s modern and whimsical architecture and interior. The hotel experience didn’t disappoint.
QT Perth is one of Perth’s newest boutique hotels located in the heart of the city at the corner of Murray Street and Barrack Street. It’s a modern, urban and chic hotel. Whimsical and colourful. Industrial yet luxe. It’s an urban oasis when you step in from the hustle and bustle of the city streets into the high ceiling and luxe lobby area.
The rooms are whimsical, colourful yet luxurious with it’s plush beds, black stone bathrooms, brass finishes and giant bath tubs. The room we had gave us a view of the busy streets below which was kind of neat. The QT King room was the small room on offer but was plenty spacious.
The roof top bar is a popular spot for locals, we were hoping to have a drink and enjoy the sunset before heading to Santini Grill for dinner. However, the bar was well and truly packed when we checked it out at 5pm. Instead we made our way to the quieter and classier Santini Bar. We enjoyed a quiet cocktail and snack before it was time for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I didn’t expect the restaurant to be so busy. It had a great atmosphere and the service was pretty good too.
I have never been much of a staycation kind of person. I much rather travel to a different town, city or country when I have some time off. However I was glad I tried out a staycation in my own city. It was relaxing and convenient (not needing to worry about long drives, transits or airports) to just pack an overnight bag and just enjoy the slow life.
Photographing architecture and interiors is one of my favourite genres of photography. I always get a kick out of it. Thanks for stopping by today.
