This is the fourth and final part of my south west series. Our last last of the long weekend trip started off with beautiful blue skies, then progressed to strong winds and thick clouds. We started out morning with breakfast at Bunkers Beach House, along Bunker Bay beach. They are famous for their delicious scrambled eggs on toast. A simple breakfast like that and a hot cup of coffee was a lovely way to kick out our final day of vacationing. We walked around the pristine white sandy beaches for a bit after breakfast, enjoying the sun and the view.
After that we drove down to check out the famous Yallingup Woodfired Bread that many people rave about. They are known to sell out quite early in the morning so we were just trying out luck. It’s located in a quaint little place, off the beaten track a bit but easily found. It’s an honesty system as well, you grab a loaf and pop your money in the bowl. They sell both fruit and plain breads. I love that you can still find these sorts no frills one-product kind of shops still!
By the time we got to Canal Rocks and Smith Beach (both in the Yallingup area) the weather had definitely turned, no more sunny blue skies. They’re both still nice places to check out. The great thing about Canal Rocks is that they’ve made it really tourist friendly with the board walk across the rocks. This means almost anyone of any age can enjoy exploring the area. Smith Beach is another popular spot for surfers.
We had a some lunch at Swings and Roundabouts, a winery in Yallingup which also does great woodfired pizzas. Then we started our 3 hour journey back to Perth.
Since we didn’t stop by Busselton on our way down to the South West region, we decided to make a pit stop at Busselton on our way up. Busselton Jetty has a 1.8km boardwalk that leads you to the underwater observatory. It seems like a cool thing to check out, but I haven’t personally been. It’s a nice little walk and the area is also a popular area for photographers to photograph. Would have been great to wait until sunset to do some long exposure/sunset photography!
This finishes my 4-part series on the South West region of WA. I hope you got a sneak peak into some of the places you can check out if you visit WA or are interested in getting out of the city. It’s somewhere that I’ve been at least 3 to 4 times. Each time I get to revisit some of my favourite places and also check out new places. Thanks for stopping by today.
