I spent 4 days in Sydney at the end of September to attend a friend’s wedding (who also happens to be a photographer) and took the opportunity to explore a bit more of Sydney. During this short getaway, I met with with fellow Fuji X Aus Sydney-siders as well as John from Adelaide for a Sunday morning photo walk. It was so timely that both myself and John were in Sydney the same weekend. We kicked off our meetup with some coffee at Kurtosh then walked around Darling Square, Darling Harbour and a bit of the CBD. The Sydney crew was so welcoming towards us interstate visitors! Couldn’t have asked for a more friendly bunch of photographers. It was great to put some faces to the names and online exchanges that I have had with some of the photographers in the group. That has always been the best part about the Fuji X Aus community. I didn’t expect more than 2 other photographers to be free to catch up, but it turned out to be a group of 7 of us!
All images share here were taken with the Fujifilm X-T10 and the 23mm f2 lens.
John got all of us into some contrast-y street photography that he’s so well known for in the Fuji X Aus group. I definitely learned a thing or two that morning. Igor (fellow Sydney rep) led the way to University of Technology Sydney’s business school, designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry. Given my interest in design and architecture, it pretty neat to check out such a unique building. We meandered our way towards Queen Victoria Building, the 1800s historic and iconic building in Sydney. Over the years it has been many things, from concert hall to city library. Today it contains a large number of shops and food options. A must see for anyone visiting Sydney. The interior is absolutely stunning.
I had such a fun morning socialising with other Fujifilm shooters as well as doing some photography. One of the best parts about this community is how friendly, open and helpful the photographers are, both online and offline. There aren’t many people you can talk Fujifilm cameras with other than other passionate photographers who also use the gear. While all of us come from different walks of life and are at different stages of life, photography does a funny thing of bringing people together. Gear is certainly not everything but simply the tools of the trade. However it was still fun to share our insights around the different lenses we shoot and why. Thank you to everyone for coming out that day! There will be more images from my Sydney trip to come, I was eager to collate and share my images from the little photowalk we did sooner rather than later.
Thanks for stopping by today
J.
